American Express is Not Associated With Any Online Casinos

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Hold up, wait a minute!

Remember a few weeks back, when there was a huge announcement that American Express was now being accepted at online casinos as a deposit method? Well, forget what you heard. Apparently, it has just been announced the AmEx is NOT accepting transactions from online casinos; the announcement was a false alarm. AmEx has stated that they will continue to restrict online casino customers from depositing money using their American Express cards.

Online casinos were actually only claiming to offer American Express, without the companies permission. It has be speculated that they were processor casino transcations under a guise, claiming the funds were for another service.

In a statement issued recently, AmEx said: “It has been a long-standing policy that American Express will not or cannot be accepted as a form of payment, both on and offline. If found to be doing so, merchants will be terminated immediately”.

But, don’t worry. This doesn’t change things for other payment processors, like PayPal, that have just hopped back into the online gambling industry. PayPal’s move even makes me thinkg that this could even be seen as a bad move by American Express. Maybe they should reconsider?

Many operators and companies that offer services that could be valuable in the online gambling world (such as software providers and payment processors) have piped up recently, because the American government seems closer than ever to online gambling legislation. If online gambling does, indeed, become legalized, this opens up a whole new market, and these companies stand to make some huge profits.

UK Casinos Lobby for US Gambling

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

The United States are closer than ever to making online gambling legal, so much so that UK casino operators have joined the fight. As Barney Frank gains even more support from the American public and other politicians, its about time that casino operators start standing up for their industry.

UC Group, a payment processing company in the UK, has already spent $6 million on lobbying American politicians to bring them over to their side. UC works with many gambling operators and sees the huge potential for profits that US legalization would provide. Opening up the American market would mean big bucks for UK casino operators, so they’re jumping into action to make sure that this possibility becomes a reality.

Party Gaming has also spent quite a bit of money on lobbying. Although not as huge as UC’s massive $6 million budget, it is still shelling out a lot of dough. $900 000 has been spent by PartyGaming so far while SportingBet has spent $60 000.

You can tell that the American market is a very lucritive option for UK operators, sheerly by the amounf of money they’re willing to spend on support this cause. If UC Group can part with $10 million now, can you imagine how much they are expecting to make off of the American online gambling market?

UK operators have also been quick on the draw because there has been much speculation about who will benefit the most. American casino operators will certainly be granted a licensing advantage, and UK casinos are putting their best foot forward to make sure they get in on the action, as well.

Tragedy at Online Poker Site

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Unfortunately the news at Gambling at Home isn’t always good news. The recent news of the death of Andreas Oscarsson came as a shock and a surprise to his friends and colleagues at pokerlistings.com which is the webs leading online casino poker referral network.

Rumour has it that there was a hit placed on the wealthy individual. Furthermore, there was a man by exactly the same name killed last year in the same respect and it was said that this may have been an accident and the real intention was to kill the pokerlistings.com former owner.

Oscarsson was a young entrepreneur when he created pokerlistings.com from the ground up. He was very proud of his business and was a tough business man and negotiator. He had a son of 2 years old who was present at the Swedish home when he was murdered. The boy is too young to be a witness and there are no other witnesses to the crime.

The team at pokerlistings.com will remember Andreas as a leader although he had stepped down from this role after the birth of his son and was only an advisor to the company in the last two years.

There are currently no suspects in the case but more information will be revealed as the investigation continues and the friends and family obtain more information as to what lead to this violent crime that saw a man lose his life at the very young age of 36. He will be remembered by his family, friends and especially his son.

Finding an Online Casino, as an American

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

It is increasingly difficult for American gamblers to find decent online casinos to play in. Ever since the Bush administration passed the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act), many online casinos have cut off American players from taking part in their gaming experience. That’s why I have to point out that the UIGEA hasn’t made online gambling illegal. Players in certain states are still free to gamble online. But, that doesn’t negate the fact that there are very few online options for the American gambler.

So, what do we do? We don’t simply stop playing. Of course not. Online gambling is a great way to relieve stress and have fun, from the comfort of your own home. And you can make some great cash while you’re doing it!

That’s why you need to be very careful about the online casino that you do choose to gamble with. Don’t settle for just any place that says they accept American players. There are still many reputable casinos with big names catering to American players.

BoDog and Club World casino are two of the biggest online casinos on the web, and they are still open to American players. They are both powered by RTG (Real Time Gaming), so you can be certain that you are getting a fair chance at winning.

Golden Casino and Online Vegas are also two casinos that take American players. They’re both big names, and have always recieved good reviews, so not everyone has completely abandoned the US!
