SEGA Enters Online Gambling Industry

Friday, November 27th, 2009

The rumours have been buzzing for quite some time. Video game legend SEGA has allegedly been planning to enter the online gambling industry by opening up an online casino. However, this was all just speculation – until today.

The company behind many beloved video game consoles will no longer develop child-geared gaming; instead, SEGA’s attention has been turned towards casino and poker games. With the help of leading software designer PlayTech, the company is planning to launch its own online casino within the next few months.

SEGA has also recently been granted an Alderney gaming license, and officials at the company are pleased with this partnership. SEGA feels that this is a great fit for its regulatory strategy. A SEGA spokesperson stated that the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, one of the most reputable gaming jurisdictions, ensures comprehensive gaming regulations.

When asked whether Sonic the Hedgehog, would make an appearance at the online casino, the answer did not bode well for the beloved SEGA mascot. The creation of a Sonic slot game may be far into the future but other well-known SEGA characters will make appearances at the new casino.

Officials believe that SEGA is well-positioned to enter this market. With an extensive background in gaming, the company believes that it can certainly bring something new to the market. As well, the establishment of the SEGA online casino brand could create a fanbase of converted video-gamers.

Who Gambles Online?

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Online gambling is taking the online gaming industry by storm, with millions of people in every country taking part in this internationally famous pastime. So, we know that the vast majority of people are gambling online, but who exactly are these people?

Whenever you see online casinos offering bonuses with exorbitant deposit requirements, that should be a clue. Who else has enough disposable income in order to make a one-time deposit of $1000? Young professionals!

According to the UK’s Gambling Commission, online gambling is an activity that is aimed towards educated, single and professional individuals, as they can provide the industry with its best profits. Putting to rest the myth that online casino operators prey on desperate people who are looking to make an extra buck, the more accurate picture of an online gambler is a 25-year-old male with a steady job and no children, who makes at least $50 000.

Online gambling operators target younger players, who have more disposable income because they have no kids and no mortgage to pay. They target educated individuals, who have well-paying jobs, allowing them to have such a wealth of disposable income.

And, the relationship is mutually beneficial. Young professionals take advantage of the fact that online gambling is an entertaining leisure activity that promises cash rewards. More fun than playing the stock market, with more immediate rewards, playing at online casinos is an exciting way for them to unwind after a long day’s work. In fact, it has been reported that many professionals use online gambling as a way to supplement their salaries, choosing to play at online casinos rather than playing the stock market.

Golden Palace: The King of Promotional Stunts

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I don’t think there is anyone in the online gambling world that has committed as many outrageous promotional stunts as Golden Palace. In fact, I don’t think there is anyone with the world at large who has such an impressive and disturbing PR track record. Maybe Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno, Ali G) would qualify, but I think Golden Palace takes the cake.

Remember when a woman claimed that she saw the face of Jesus in a grilled cheesed sandwich? When she finally put the 10-year-old snack up on Ebay, it was promptly snatched up by Golden Palace for the price of $28 000. I’m sure I”m not the only one who was left scratching their head when this happened but it certainly got the name Golden Palace some attention which is what, I’m sure, they wanted.

Golden Palace also has a reputation with tattoos. In 2005, paid a woman $10 000 to tattoo the Golden Palace logo on the forehead of Karolyne Smith. The single mother, for some reason, was the highest bidder in an eBay auction, in which the “winner” would be awarded this honour. $10 000 is quite a bit of money; I’m sure half of what was spent on laser tattoo removal. Golden Palace also gave a 400-pound man almost $5o00 to tattoo the logo on his stomach.

2005 also saw another huge promotional stunt. A woman put the right to name her first child up for auction on Ebay. Golden Palace was the highest bidder with $15 000, and three months later, Melissa Heuschkel gave birth to Golden Palace Benedetto.

Season Finales Creating Action at Online Casinos!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Funny enough it feels like the fall TV season has just began but the truth of the matter is that certain reality TV shows are nearing their season end and there is quite a bit of action at the online casinos due to this occasion. People have been betting on the shows all season but the bets of predicting the winners have really been raised.

Looks like many avid fans believe that they really know who the winning teams, players or individuals will be and are putting their money on it. TV shows like survivor still have a few weeks left but the earlier you bet the higher your pay out will because there are less chances that you can predict the winner earlier in the game.

The players are competing against each other to win and you are trying to figure out who is likely to take the prize so that you can feel like you have received a little share of that prize as well. The online casinos that accept sports bets are also accepting bets of this nature.

It is fun to cheer for your favourite on the show knowing full well that if they win you will also turn out a bit of a winner. Good to know that these shows are coming to end just in time to catch the interesting part and perhaps win some extra cash while you are at it as well. Always fun to make a little wager on the TV show that you watch because this can possibly turn you into a big winner!
