I don’t think there is anyone in the online gambling world that has committed as many outrageous promotional stunts as Golden Palace. In fact, I don’t think there is anyone with the world at large who has such an impressive and disturbing PR track record. Maybe Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno, Ali G) would qualify, but I think Golden Palace takes the cake.
Remember when a woman claimed that she saw the face of Jesus in a grilled cheesed sandwich? When she finally put the 10-year-old snack up on Ebay, it was promptly snatched up by Golden Palace for the price of $28 000. I’m sure I”m not the only one who was left scratching their head when this happened but it certainly got the name Golden Palace some attention which is what, I’m sure, they wanted.
Golden Palace also has a reputation with tattoos. In 2005, paid a woman $10 000 to tattoo the Golden Palace logo on the forehead of Karolyne Smith. The single mother, for some reason, was the highest bidder in an eBay auction, in which the “winner” would be awarded this honour. $10 000 is quite a bit of money; I’m sure half of what was spent on laser tattoo removal. Golden Palace also gave a 400-pound man almost $5o00 to tattoo the logo on his stomach.
2005 also saw another huge promotional stunt. A woman put the right to name her first child up for auction on Ebay. Golden Palace was the highest bidder with $15 000, and three months later, Melissa Heuschkel gave birth to Golden Palace Benedetto.
